What Goes Into Sport/Game Court Construction?
- Onsite Preparations
Successful game court construction relies on a hard, flat surface to build upon. It also needs to be compliant with local, state, and federal zoning regulations for game courts. The area may need to be leveled, excavated, or graded in order to facilitate construction. Site work tends to be the most significant expenditure for building a game court. - Base Materials
This material goes underneath the court. The most popular solutions are concrete, crushed stone, asphalt, and modular bases. Many courts are built with layers set on top of a 4″ slab of 3500 PSI concrete and 1/2″ rebars for reinforcement. A modular solution, like SportBase, is ideal for complying with certain zoning restrictions but is not as permanent as a concrete slab. However, SportBase is an excellent solution for homeowners, mainly because it offers more safety and tons of shock absorption, as well as the highest head-impact rating of any other base materials. - Surfacing
Now that the base is in place, the court itself can be built. Layers of rubber, acrylic, polyurethane, or modular surfacing may go into the creation of a game court depending on the base materials, type of court, desired playing speed, and other factors. - Components, Accessories, and More
This step is where a court becomes genuinely unique. Taylor Tennis Courts can accommodate all of your game court needs, including accessories installation, fence building, custom color for striping, light installations, and much more. We can also set up net systems, basketball hoops, and rebounders. You can turn your court into a multi-game court for more fun and flexibility in a limited space.
